Snowflakes in Spring

This was a fun custom piece to make for a lovely woman in Pennsylvania. This larger version of a falling snow panel I made last winter has a few more flakes and more icy textured chards of glass. Everyone who saw it says they feel cold when looking at it!

Check out a few photos of the process leading up to the final finished piece.

First I cut iridescent snowflakes and find just the right placement. Then I choose the textured clear glass that they'll "fall" in front of.

Each piece of glass is foiled and ready for solder.

I can't resist lifting a freshly-soldered piece to see light sparkle through for the first time.
